IN 2003 RECORD TIMES ESTABLISHED IN APPLE DERBY RUN

The 25th Anniversary Apple Derby Run was certainly a race for the record book on October 4th, as 90 individuals ran the certified course and new competition times were established. Overall Male Champion Ryan Pauling (24:55) broke John Luther's (25:02) long standing course record which stood since 1984, and Laura Bloedorn (28:53), third overall running in her first race in Rochester since moving from Minnesota, broke Linda Grossman's (29:10) record established in 1998. Both Ryan and Linda received a $250 cash prize as part of the Furnal's Big M Challenge which offers the special financial incentive for those who produce course records during the Derby Run.

In the Roger Messenger Masters Champion category, David Young (31:51) and Patricia DiGiorgio (36:11) brought home awards honoring the memory of Roger who was a successful and well respected local runner. The category was added to the anniversary run by Race Coordinator Tom Ganley and truly produced a special moment, as Roger's twin daughters Ann (31:39), 6th overall, and April (31:47), 7th overall, placed tops within their 19 to 29 age division.
